Oshkosh Highlights I Can Recall

By Russell:

The Oshkosh Pathfinder Camporee is so big, everyone has a different experience. Here are some highlights I saw as I ran around with Matt, Jeremy, Caleb, Moy, and Micah. I was really curious to see what spiritual training and blessings the kids and staff would receive. It seemed like God really blessed with providing traveling protection and good weather. The afternoons did get uncomfortably hot, up to about 92 in the shade by my thermometer. A few of the days my unit chose that time to cool off with showers and find shady places for activities. Evenings were perfect with a slight breeze.

The first morning there were no activities scheduled until noon, so we headed out to explore and see if anyone wanted to trade pins that Charlie provided. Everyone else seemed to have the same idea, and I had no idea how big a deal the pin trading was going to be. We talked about how the pin trading was intended to help us meet people and be friendly, and the boys made great efforts to do that. We met two girls from the South who didn't bring any pins and were watching the action.

Home Sweet Home!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was with cheering and excitement that we rounded the corner on I-90 coming down the pass and into the Seattle area early this morning. We arrived home about 12:30 am with Tires INTACT!! Praise God!!!!!

Road to the Sky

Well, our drive to Yellowstone was quite exciting. We headed out the main road that was recommended and soon found ourselves heading "straight up," (well almost). Our speed dropped to 30 miles per hour. About half way up there was a look out over the Wyoming countryside. I felt like I was on top of the world. We could see for miles! Then as we continued we hit road construction and a gravel road, ugh!!!

Pin Trading Continues

It's early and the sunrise is beautiful again. We saw many Pathfinders yesterday on the road and waved back and forth. We traded pins in the Badlands of SD, and saw more Pathfinders at Mt. Rushmore. The Tillimook club participated in the flag ceremony at Mt. Rushmore last night. Continue to pray for all the traveling clubs as well as us. One of the clubs from CA blew 3 tires yesterday. We continue to be thankful for safe travels and trust our tires to God. We will cross Wyoming today. (Sorry for the mistake on yesterday's blog I meant SD Not ND. We are off.

On the Road Again

Good morning, We awoke to a beautiful sunrise this morning in Sioux Falls North Dakota at a KOA campground. And yes the bathrooms are beautiful, good water pressure and no "5 minute" rule. We just finished breakfast and plan to drive to Mt. Rushmore today and then through the Bad Lands. We are thankful for safe travels so far. Please continue to pray for us and the tires on the Pathfinder trailer, they were quite hot again yesterday. As we drove we saw many other trailers some obvious Pathfinders on their way home to. We saw a group singing around a campfire at this campground and think they too were Pathfinders. See you soon.

Pathfinder trailer headed back!

The Dorlands put in a lot of hours today pulling the heavily loaded Pathfinder trailer back towards the old west! They stopped for the night around 11pm at a campground in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Anita was using her cell phone from the restroom and gazing in awe at three plumbed toilets and two plumbed sinks! A campground never looked so up town!

Delayed again

The flight to SeaTac was delayed again and now is due to arrive at SeaTac at 11:25 pm. They are in the air again. Amber

At Chicago terminal

The group is at their Chicago terminal now, waiting for their flight. Their flight from Milwaukee was cancelled and they were bused to Chicago. Their flight from Chicago to SeaTac has been delayed by an hour. They are now scheduled to arrive in SeaTac at 11pm instead of 10pm. This was all apparently due to weather, although weather problems aren't visible to them. They will still be coming in on Alaska flight #29.

At Milwaukee

They are at their gate at the Milwaukee airport and have 3.5 hours till takeoff. Plenty of time!
